Brusselicious 2012 to roll out in February

13 December 2011

February 2012 will see VISITBRUSSELS partner with the STIB/MIVB and Electrolux to launch the ‘Tram Experience’ as a part of the Brusselicious 2012 campaign. Following on from Mode Design Brussels in 2006 and Comic Strips in 2009, gastronomy is to be a highlighted theme across Brussels in 2012.

As its name suggests, ’Tram Experience’ aims to offer a gastronomic and touristic experience that is unmatched anywhere in the world. Guests will be able to enjoy several classic dishes of Belgian gastronomy, all modified for the occasion by top chefs. At the same time, they will be travelling along some of the Region’s most attractive roads, while seated inside a vehicle with a sleek modern decor.

STIB/MIVB, the Brussels public transport company, had no hesitation in making a fully staffed tram available for the occasion. Electrolux, building on the success it enjoyed earlier this year with The Cube (a temporary restaurant located above the Cinquantenaire arcades in Brussels), has also joined the project. The company is contributing to the outfitting of the tram and its equipment, as well as development of the culinary project. To complete the experience, high-ranking Belgian chefs have been asked to prepare new versions of traditional Belgian dishes, with a focus on high-quality local produce and seasonal ingredients.

“DMCs sometimes have to spend a lot of time selling their destination as well as their own services, but this is not the case in Brussels. The team at VISITBRUSSELS promote our capital in so many innovative ways”, said Hugo Slimbrouck of Ovation Belgium.
