Global Managing Directors join a new order!

Patrick Delaney and Padraic Gilligan have been honoured for the major contribution they have made to the Irish tourism industry. They have been invested in the Order of Innisfallen by the business community in the southern town of Killarney in recognition of their efforts to promote Kerry and Irish tourism.
The awards scheme, initiated jointly in 2005 by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and Killarney Town Council, recognises outstanding contributions by non-residents of Killarney to the area’s economic development over many years, particularly in the field of tourism.
Inisfallen is arguably Killarney’s best known and most historic heritage site. It began as a place of healing and then became a major centre of learning where the Annals of Inisfallen, the oldest contemporary source of the history of Munster was written. In every respect it represents all that is positive about Killarney and as such it was considered to be the most appropriate theme for the honour.
Padraic Gilligan and Patrick Delaney are some of just five recipients to receive the award since it was established and this year’s honours list also included Minister of Tourism John O’Donoghue TD a native of the Kerry region.
Accepting the award at a gala reception in Muckross House Killarney On December 6th 2007, Patrick Delaney said it was personally satisfying to be recognised as a friend of Killarney town and as someone who has made a real contribution to the tourism industry of the area.
Previous award recipients include Margaret Cahill of Tourism Ireland Europe, Colin Algate of Globus Cosmos and Brian Stack of CIE Tours International North America.
