Global DMC endorses the Keep America Meeting Campaign
18 February 2009
Ovation Global DMC endorses the "Keep America Meeting" Campaign and encourages you to stand up for the meetings, events and incentives industry.
The US Treasury Department issued new regulations that require the board of directors of companies that have received funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to establish revised policies for all meetings, events, and incentive/recognition travel in addition to other requirements.
The consequences of these revised regulations could impact greatly on the meetings, events and incentives industry in the US and worldwide, threatening jobs and the stability of companies within this industry.
For now, the Keep America Meeting Campaign is based in the U.S. only, however, as a global organisation we understand the potential for this to extend far beyond the U.S and into all of the areas where our clients, colleagues, suppliers and industry partners operate. The consequences for the rest of the world, business in hotels, venues and the supply chain could be seriously affected.
As part of the Keep America Meeting Campaign Ovation Global DMC is encouraging all clients, colleagues, suppliers and industry partners to add your signature to the Keep America Meeting Campaign Petition. By doing this you can play a part in drawing attention to the important role that meetings and motivational events play in building successful businesses.
Organisers plan to deliver the petition to the White House, Congress, and the leadership of the Fortune 200 companies, with a clear message of support for meetings. The petition says: “Corporate meetings enhance employee and partner performance, fuel company growth and profitability, support the needs of local communities, and aid the American economy as a whole.”
