The team at Ovation Italy is enjoying a well deserved break after concluding a mammoth DMC operation for the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Congress which convened in Rome, June 16 -19th.
An annual event, the 2010 EULAR congress was attended by 15,500 delegates and Ovation handled all transportational logisitics for the event. This was the first time in the ten year history of EULAR congresses that an official transportation plan was put in place. Ovation created and co-ordinated a very detailed strategic schedule of point to point shuttle services between Rome’s principal hotels and Fiera Roma Congress Centre, engaging with local public transit and police authorities to ensure its efficient operation.
Over the four congress days, 287 fifty seater coaches operated upwards of 2,000 transfers for an average of 8,000 participants each day. Local police patrols were positioned at the congress centre and on the link motorway with 12 outriders escorting the shuttles to and from the city centre hotels.
Michael Libotte, Managing Director of Ovation Italy commented ‘‘We are immensely proud to have managed such a massive DMC operation, the largest in Italy during the past four years. The scale of the programme, and the measure of its success, is testament to intense planning by the team over the past two years and to the great spirit of teamwork with our congress partners at AIM, MCI Geneva and EULAR’’.
